Kia’s compact SUV, the XCeed, and estate car Ceed Sportswagon have received the electrification treatment with new Plug-In Hybrid engine options.

At the front, each variant will get a ‘tiger-nose’ grille to improve aerodynamic efficiency, whilst ‘eco plug-in’ badges will feature on the cars. For charging, the port is located on the left front wing of each car.

The cars are now available with a 1.6-litre GDi petrol engine combined with an 8.9kWh battery. This produces 139bhp and 265NM of torque, which is paired with a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission for added enjoyment when driving.

Range on the XCeed is expected to hit 36 miles in fully electric mode, and 37 miles in the Ceed Sportswagon. Recharging to 100% is said to take 2 hours and 15 minutes using a 3.3kW AC charger.
