Top 10 Best-selling Cars For 2019

The SMMT has revealed the top 10 best-selling cars for 2019.

 

The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) has published a report for the cars with the most registrations in 2019. ‘Registration’ refers to when a car is registered with the DVLA, receiving a number plate and allowing it to be driven on the road.

 

1. Ford Fiesta

The top 10 is lead by the Ford Fiesta, the UK’s favourite new car. Up to the end of July 2019, the Fiesta has been registered 48,943 times.

 

2. Ford Focus

This is closely followed by the Ford Focus – the Fiesta’s bigger brother. The hatchback has overtaken the Volkswagen Golf with 36,102 registrations.

 

3. Volkswagen Golf

Volkswagen’s large hatchback, the Golf, remains one of the most popular new cars in 2019. However, with 35,781 registrations, the Focus is beginning to steal the lead.

 

4. Nissan Qashqai

Thanks to a wide variety of trims and a refreshed design, the Nissan Qashqai takes fourth place with 33,227 registrations for 2019.

 

5. Vauxhall Corsa

Even with a new model in the works, the Vauxhall Corsa is consistently a popular choice for buyers looking at superminis. There have been 33,061 Corsa registrations in 2019.

 

6. Mercedes-Benz A-Class

In sixth place is the Mercedes-Benz A-Class with 31,606 registrations, notably down to the hatchback’s interior and exterior overhaul. It is now one of the poshest premium hatchbacks available on the market.

 

7. Volkswagen Polo

Another supermini creeps in to the top 10 – the Volkswagen Polo. 26,173 registrations suggest that the car’s strong build quality and impressive interior design is maintaining steady sales.

 

8. Ford Kuga

The Kuga makes Ford’s third entry into the top 10 charts. The SUV received 23,346 registrations in 2019, making a successful year so far for the American manufacturer.

 

9. MINI Hatchback

Small cars reign supreme as the MINI Hatchback snaps up ninth place with 23,001 registrations. With an electric version on the way, sales can only improve for the small hatchback.

 

10. Kia Sportage

A total of 21,194 registrations mark the tenth spot. The owner is the Kia Sportage, an SUV proving ever popular with the current market.
